To extend distance of route on pleasant roads: R on Rt 28A West as far as you want, then turn around and return on Rt 28A East. It is 4.3Mi to West Shokan. After that the hills get a bit bigger. Making the round trip to West Shokan lengthens the total route to 28.2Mi. |

To see the main reservoir buildings, at the cost of some hill work : L on Rt 28A East 0.2Mi, pass by Rt 213 and BL to continue down long hill 1.8Mi to main Reservoir buildings. Continue Straight on Rt 28A East 1.3Mi to climb gradually and reach the access road for the "Frying Pan" parking circle. Rejoin main route by continuing Straight on Rt 28 East. Adds 0.7Mi to route total. |

to cross a spectacular gorge and see some pretty houses, but with more climbing: After the 0.5Mi on Rt 28A, just before the spillway bridge turn south onto Stone Church Rd for 0.7Mi, then just after crossing bridge over gorge, turn L on Spillway Rd 3.9Mi to its end, T - R on Rt 28A for 1.1Mi to rejoin main route at Dike Rd. | ||
