The paved rail trail starts northwest, but quickly curves west. Then northwest again and goes under Route 17, then gradually curves west.
In about 4.75 miles, you reach the old Chester depot. There are several places with food and drink a short walk from here.
Continue about 4.2 miles to Goshen. Be careful when crossing several roads with cars and other motor vehicles on them.
Turn around and go back the way you came.
Some nice things about starting in Chester are:
From Chester you can choose to start off in either direction and then come back -- east 4.75 miles to Monroe, or west 4.2 miles to Goshen. Then if you still have energy left you can try out the other direction.
