Printed Bicycling Maps

for the Hudson Valley

Hudson Valley Bikeways and Trailways
prepared by New York State Department of Transportation Region 8 and Metropool.  Transportation Alternatives has put this map with some descriptions on the Web (PDF format, large files).
Ken's comment:  I regard the "2001 Edition" of this map as more of a proposal of roads and paths that might someday become "bikeways" or "trailways".  Several things marked as "existing bikeways" or "existing trailways" are actually not ready yet (as of November 2001) -- so I would not recommend using it as a guide for current route planning.  I look forward to future editions.
Mohawk Hudson Bikeway Map
There's a short section of off-road trail along the Hudson from Albany to Watervliet, and about 25 miles more along the Mohawk River from Cohoes through Schenectady to Rotterdam junction.  There is a map graphic on the Schenectady County website of their section, with phone numbers to order a paper copy.
Ken's comment:  I've never actually gotten see the paper map.
Western Massachusetts Road and Bicycle Map
by Rubel BikeMaps -- see description of map
Ken's comment:  Very helpful resource -- we bought our copy on the Web.  In addition to recommended bicycling roads, it also identifies which roads are unpaved, which ones have steep hills -- and where to stop for ice cream.
