Skating inline in the Hudson Valley

Ken, July 2005: Poughkeepsie to Rhinebeck

On a midweek day, I followed various city streets to connect from the Poughkeepsie train station to doing north on Smith St, then Creek Rd. Then tried Dutchess Hill Rd - county Rt 40 east -- tough climb which tired me out. Then Cream St north to its end (has a steep downhill along the way). Right on the next road (east), North on Quaker Lane to its end, Right on Rt 9G.

Rt 9G North was sorta OK, had some tricky pavement and some high-speed traffic, and not fun or scenic. I tried Ackert Hook, but that was too hilly. Wurtemberg Rd (north) was nice, and so was Vlei (west). Burger (north) was OK but not great (? next time perhaps try continuing west to Rt 9 ?), and Rt 308 West into Rhinebeck was nice, and I stopped for a snack at Bread Alone.
