Description

• Where:  Around the village of Kinderhook, in northwest Columbia County, NY.

• 18 miles, mostly gentle (500 vertical feet, hill index 1.6).

• Highlights:  Quiet riding through beautiful farm country, and the pleasant village of Kinderhook.

• Characteristics:  Mostly on quiet roads, except some short sections on Route 9. Some small hills.

• warning:  roads change -- but we have not checked much of the main route since the date below.

And it might have been a longer time since some of the Variations of the route were last checked by us.  Some roads and intersections might be different since then, or closed -- so be prepared to find alternatives -- a good reason to carry a detailed map. • Directions to Start: 

by car:  Kinderhook is on Route 9.  Route 9 is a major road and can be reached from Rt 23 or Rt 23B from the south, and from Albany and Rensselaer and the NY Thruway Bershire extension / Massachusetts Turnpike from the north.

• Map:  You should have a detailed road map of Columbia County to do this route (see Road Maps).
