Reports on
GW Bridge to Central Park

May 2003, Ken Roberts

Sharon and I rode the route starting early on a Saturday morning.  The roads were mostly in good condition, and we found some better streets in a couple of places -- so those streets are in the cue sheet directions now.  We definitely found it a worthwhile venture into Manhattan early on a weekend morning.

Tony joined us on the way back to the GWB, and encouraged us to try a variation:  Instead of returning north on Riverside Drive, after Claremont St we went back to Broadway and continued north down the hill to 125th St -- lots of traffic.  We turned Left to go West on 125th, then Right on 12th Ave and followed signs for the "NYC Greenway" -- the West side Greenway path.  We took that to the Little Red Lighthouse and underneath the bridge, then up the hill to Fort Washington Ave near the East end of the GWB.
