Trip Reports on
New Paltz to Kingston Waterfront

May 2003, Herb & Jerry

The ride started out OK, but we missed the turn onto Creek Locks Road, and wound up following Rt 213 all the way up to Kingston. Not recommended: High traffic, high speed, poor shoulder, long up-hills, no scenery. We rejoined the route at Wall St. in Kingston, after which we watched our turns more carefully, and the route is lovely. We take back all the nasty things we said about the cue sheet on the way up!

July 2002, Steve:

I recently completed a first time visit to the Hudson Valley.  The bike ride from New Paltz to Kingston and back was a highlight of the vacation.

I must say I thought the cue sheet was impeccable.  The only time I got off the route (very briefly) was at the bottom of the steep hill coming into Rosendale and missing the rail trail out onto the bridge over the river.

October 2000, Ken Roberts:  Greg, Dale, Sharon and I rode most of these roads following the "East of the Wallkill River" variation and Variation B.  The roads were mostly in good condition, the riding pleasant, the company was fun.  But we tried an off-road variation north from Perrine's bridge, and that was rather muddy.
