- New Paltz South - Rail Trail -- minimizes
your interaction with motor vehicle
traffic. Other routes add lots more nice riding and views, but
if you don't have the skills and experience (or desire) for traffic
interaction, or if you want to limit the miles and hills, choose this
one.
- Wallkill - Horse Farm variation
of New Paltz South - Rail Trail --
goes all the way to the village of Wallkill, and adds some pretty
sights (also more miles and hills). But it has more traffic
interaction (0.4Mi on Bruyn Turnpike and 0.2Mi on Albany Post Rd
have narrow or no shoulders, but can get significant motor vehicle
traffic).
- Farms around New Paltz -- South
-- adds yet more interesting riding and views (and miles and hills)
-- but with substantially greater traffic interaction risk.
- East of the Wallkill variation of Farms
and Orchards around New Paltz -- adds some pretty orchard
country (with quieter roads, if the Brookside Variation is taken) --
but at the cost of a substantial hill climb on South St and Hull
Ave, and more miles.
